Did you know that our “gut instinct”, often referred to as intuition or a gut feeling, can be directly related to health?

Awareness allows us to be more in tune with our emotional and physical needs. Your “gut instinct” can play a role in decision-making related to health choices that are aligned for you.  Feeling a knot in your stomach or experiencing digestive discomfort could be your body’s way of signaling stress or that a certain food may not work for you. Paying attention to how you feel emotionally about certain situations or decisions can provide insight into your health.

The gut-brain axis suggests that gut health can influence mental health and vice versa. The gut influences our mood and cognition while the brain can influence our gut activities. For instance, gastrointestinal disorders can signal the brain to trigger mood changes.

The proven interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit encourages us to pay attention to our gut instincts and to consider treating the whole person rather than just isolated symptoms.

Remember to feed your gut and microbiome organic whole foods and a mostly plant-based diet.
